It’s a special year for the Garland Fire Department.  The department was has been in service now for 100 years!  That’s right, since 1911 the department has been protecting the area and we’re hoping you’ll join us this year to celebrate the last 100 years!  The famous Salmon fry is coming soon so what a better time to mark the occasion.  Check your calender for Saturday, June 4th, from 3:00pm – 9:00pm.  We have kept the prices the same this year so you’ll get an adult plate for $13.00 or $6.50 for children under 12 if  you pre-buy your tickets by June 1st.  That price is also good for either our takeout line or our dine in option.  At the door tickets will be $15 for adults and $7.00 for children under 12.

Over the year’s we’ve learned a thing or two, and with some enhancements to the station over the last couple years we have less waiting and much shorter lines.  We have more room also for those wishing to take their time, and enjoy a good sit down salmon dinner!  We invite you to come join us for this great cause and help out our fire department at the same time.

Of course if you are looking for tickets you can always find your favorite Garland firemen and they’ll be glad to get you tickets.   At the door tickets will be $15 for adults and $7.00 for children under 12.  If you buy before June 1st we’ll get you tickets for $13.00 for adults and $6.50 for children.  We have also made things super easy for those out of town to take advantage of our pre-sale pricing without having to make a trip to Garland to get your tickets.  You can get your tickets online again this year for the same lower pre-sale price.  Just buy them here with the link and instructions below, and we’ll have tickets ready and waiting for you at will-call the day of the salmon fry! All we ask is you bring the printed receipt with you. How easy can it get?! Tickets are on sale now. Adults are $13.00 online and kids are $6.50. After June 1st, (including at the door) tickets go to $15.00 for adults and $7.00 for kids, so get your tickets now.

Follow these easy instructions and get your Salmon Fry tickets online!

Garland helps with Herriman UT, Machine Gun Fire

Posted by admin on September 24, 2010 under Main

Garland was asked to send a structure engine and the personnel to man the truck down to Herriman to help with the Machine Gun fire which started Sunday afternoon Sept 19th.  Garland sent Engine 41 with six firefighters.  The crew was assigned a patrol roll around the homes closest to the fire, and make sure no hot spots reignited close to the homes.  We had crews down for almost 50 hours before we were demobilized from the event.  It was at that point the Incident commanders felt the fire was no longer a threat to the homes.   Roughly 1600 homes were evacuated at the highest point.  Three homes were lost in the blaze, but after seeing the fire line first hand,  it was amazing that more homes were not destroyed.  The crews that were on the fire initially did an incredible job of stopping the fire.

There were huge amounts of  resources from all over the state and country to aid in the fire.  A call was made out to Box Elder County for help early Monday morning.  Box Elder County as a whole responded swiftly by providing structure engines and crews from Garland, Tremonton, Brigham City, Corrine and Honeyville and one Brush Truck from the county itself.

For more information on the fire, you can check out the link here from KSL.

Another Salmon Fry in the Books!

Posted by admin on June 7, 2010 under Main

That’s right – #33 is over and done and being counted as another successful year!  We had over 3200 people come through the station to collect their salmon dinner this year.  I think those who made it this year can attest, we have found a way to improve the salmon fry after all these years.  There is less waiting than ever with an improvement we finished just in time for last year’s feast.  Once things got rolling, we got reports that people didn’t wait much more than 20 mins.  Much of the time the take-out line had no wait at all!

We can’t thank all our families, friends and volunteers that came out this year to give of their time to help us out.  In our planning stages it looked like we were going to be a little short on help this year.  Thank you, thank you thank you for your help!  You know who you are and we appreciate your support more than you will know.  To the vendors; Kent’s Market, Harris Market, Rupps, JC’s Dinner.  We also thank you for your help over the years to make this a success each and every year.  It wouldn’t be possible without your help and generosity.  Most of us are off to the State Fire Convention this week.  When we get back I will make sure to update this list of supporters.

The Garland Fire Department is on a very limited budget.  Matter of fact, our annual budget allows for very little, if any new equipment.  That is obtained through grants, donations and the monies raised through the Salmon Fry.  As pointed out at a display we had at the event.  It requires just under $10,000 just to train a firefighter and outfit them in the most basic of personal protective gear.  As budgets get tighter and tighter it gets very difficult sometimes to make sure a firefighter has a set of turnouts that are not torn or out dated.  Though the support of those who make it out to the Salmon Fry, we able to ensure our firefighters are safe.  And that we can carry out our mission to the citizens of Garland and surrounding Box Elder County:  To protect property and help save lives.

We hope to see everyone next year.  Plan now – the Salmon Fry is always the first Saturday in June – always!

Thanks again for your support!
